Breeders of Appaloosa Horses -- Champion Bloodlines

Valley Mist Farm was founded in 1959 in San Diego, California where we raised and showed champion appaloosas.  Please take a moment of your time and read the story of how we got started and history of the Machacha #2581 bloodline.

Preoccupied with college and a busy career, we didn't have much time for horses during the 80's and 90's, however, in 2002 we re-established Valley Mist Farm on ten acres located in Waxahachie, Texas, thirty miles South of Dallas.  We are happy to be raising descendents of champions we raised over forty-five years ago.  Pictured here are some of our brood mares and show prospects.

We are committed to raising horses with champion bloodlines, with balance, correct legs, good dispositions and with potential to perform under saddle as well.  In addition to emphasizing good conformation, we breed to preserve color. We are staunch supporters of the Appaloosa Project whose genetic research will soon allow breeders to DNA test their breeding stock to determine which animals are likely to produce colored offspring.
